Salome by Oscar Wilde
“And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he swore unto her, Whatsoever thou shall ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. And she went forth, and said What shall I ask? And said, The head of John the Baptist.” Mark 6:21-29 Salome, in a state of frenzy, addresses the severed head of John the Baptist in a dramatic monologue. Insanity and erotic murderous dancing define the story of Salome. In this new multi-media adaptation of Salome, Migliaccio’s mise en scene is a visual and poetic allegory of the never ending struggle between Eros and Thanatos, Love and Destruction, Passion and Restraint. The Dance of the Seven Veils is the burning experience of the body no more suppressed, and no more silenced.

The Maids by Jean Genet
"She loves us the way she loves her bidet." The Maids Two sisters, Solange and Claire, maids in an upper-class Parisian home, who nightly engage in a series of sadomasochistic rituals while their mistress is away, caused a scandal when it opened in Paris in 1947. Written in 1945 and first staged in 1947, The Maids was based on the 1933 case of the Papin sisters, maids who brutally killed their mother and daughter employers. In this new multi-media adaptation of The Maids, Migliaccio’s mise en scene is a ritualistic interplay of theatre and film, as fiction and fantasy, truth and lies, despair, jealousy, hatred are played against the black and white sequences of sensual and erotic sisterly love.
